Task #1: Cleaning The Interior Of Your RV
Pests can be a serious problem when placing your RV into storage for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, just like pest control issues in your home, it can be difficult to get rid of pests once they have infested your RV. That is why it is so important to take a preventative approach to pest control issues when placing your RV into storage. The most effective way to do this is to ensure the interior of your RV is completely clean. This means removing any food items that are being stored in the vehicle, wiping down all hard surfaces with a cleanser, and vacuuming all surfaces to get rid of any crumbs. Even just a few crumbs can be enough to attract pests to your RV so you will want to be thorough when completing this task.
Task #2: Cleaning The Exterior Of Your RV
Far too many RV owners choose to wait until they retrieve their vehicle from storage to clean the exterior of this recreational vehicle. While the desire to hit the road with a freshly washed RV is quite understandable, leaving dirt and debris on your RV when placing it into storage is never a good idea. This is because common substances such as motor oil, bird droppings, and road salt can eat away at the protective layer of your paint. This can ultimately lead to flaking paint or even rusting over an extended period of time. Task #3: Draining All Water From Your RV
If you live in an area that experiences freezing temperatures during the winter months, you will need to make sure that you drain all of the water from your RV's plumbing system before placing it into storage. Allowing water to remain in the system can result in burst or frozen pipes. This type of damage can be extremely time-consuming and expensive to repair. In order to further protect against freezing, you may also wish to add a small amount of antifreeze to your water tanks before putting your RV into storage for the winter.
